B2710 CADILLAC Description

  When the ignition key is inserted in the ignition, the resistance of the key pellet is measured. Resistance is compared with resistance value stored in the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) memory. DTC B2710 will set when an open or zero resistance value is measured from key pellet prior to obtaining a valid resistance reading. DTC B2711 will set when an open or zero resistance value is measured from key pellet following a valid resistance reading. When DTC B2710 is set as current, IPC will display STARTING DISABLED, REMOVE IGNITION KEY message on drivers message center and prevent the vehicle from starting. When DTC B2711 is set as current, IPC will display THEFT SYSTEM PROBLEM, CAR MAY NOT RESTART message on drivers message center and allow the vehicle to continue to run.
