Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 Intermittent Or Erratic

Table of contents

P0114 MAZDA Possible Causes

  • Faulty Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor
  • Dirty air filter
  • Intake Air Temperature sensor harness is open or shorted
  • Intake Air Temperature sensor circuit poor electrical connection

How do I fix code P0114 MAZDA?

Check the “Possible Causes” listed above. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connectors. Check for damaged components and look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector’s pins.

Tech Notes

  • Before replacing the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor, try replacing the air filter and cleaning the Mass Air Flow sensor with Mass Air Flow sensor cleaner. Reset code and drive the vehicle. If the code comes back, it may be necessary to replace the Mass Air Flow sensor.

Cost of diagnosing the P0114 MAZDA code

The cost of diagnosing the P0114 MAZDA code is 1.0 hour of labor. The auto repair labor rates vary by location, your vehicle’s make and model, and even your engine type. Most auto repairs shops charge between $75 and $150 per hour.

Possible Symptoms

  • Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)

P0114 MAZDA Description

The Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor is built into Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. The sensor detects intake air temperature and transmits a signal to the Engine Control Module (ECM). The temperature sensing unit uses a thermistor which is sensitive to the change in temperature. The electrical resistance of the thermistor decreases in response to the temperature rise. The Intake Air Temperature signal is used as an input for various systems in the vehicle. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will set when the ECM detects an erratic signal from the Intake Air Temperature sensor during the system monitor test.
