EVAP Emission System Pressure Sensor

Table of contents

P0450 KIA Possible Causes

  • Faulty Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor (FTPS)
  • Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor (FTPS) harness is open or shorted
  • Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor (FTPS) circuit poor electrical connection
  • Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)

How do I fix code P0450 KIA?

Check the “Possible Causes” listed above. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connectors. Check for damaged components and look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector’s pins.

Cost of diagnosing the P0450 KIA code

The cost of diagnosing the P0450 KIA code is 1.0 hour of labor. The auto repair labor rates vary by location, your vehicle’s make and model, and even your engine type. Most auto repairs shops charge between $75 and $150 per hour.

When is the code detected

  – An improper voltage signal from EVAP control system pressure sensor is sent to ECM.

Possible Symptoms

  • Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)

P0450 KIA Description

The evaporative emissions system prevents hydrocarbon (HC) vapors from the fuel tank from escaping into the atmosphere where they could form photochemical smog. The fuel tank pressure sensor is a component of the evaporative emission system. The Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor (FTPS) converts fuel tank pressure to a proportional analog voltage signal which is read by the engine controller for evaluation during execution of the Evaporative System Diagnostic. The Tank Pressure may be below atmospheric pressure (ie. a vacuum) or above atmospheric pressure. The fuel tank pressure is used to measure the difference between the air pressure (or vacuum) in the fuel tank and the ambient air pressure. The Engine Control Module (ECM) supplies a 5 volts reference and a ground to the sensor, which allows the sensor’s output voltage to range from 0.1 to 4.9 volts
