System Voltage High
Table of contents
P0563 RAM Possible Causes
- Faulty alternator
- Open or short system voltage circuit
- Faulty Transmission Control Module (TCM)
How do I fix code P0563 RAM?
Check the “Possible Causes” listed above. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connectors. Check for damaged components and look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector’s pins.
Tech Notes
- Higher than expected voltage problems are most likely caused by bad voltage regulator. The voltage regulator is part of the alternator.
Cost of diagnosing the P0563 RAM code
The cost of diagnosing the P0563 RAM code is 1.0 hour of labor. The auto repair labor rates vary by location, your vehicle’s make and model, and even your engine type. Most auto repairs shops charge between $75 and $150 per hour.
Possible Symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
P0563 RAM Description
The Transmission Control Module (TCM) monitors the system voltage level at the TCM supply voltage terminal for the following failure conditions:
– System Voltage Excessively Low
– System Voltage Low
– System Voltage High
If the TCM supply voltage is below a threshold that is lower than the System Voltage Excessively Low threshold, the TCM will not supply power to the solenoid valves and pressure regulators. A Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is set when one of the diagnostics is greater than a calibrated value for a calibrated amount of time.
