ECM/PCM Processor Fault
Table of contents
P0606 Possible Causes
- Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Harness power supply circuit is open or shorted
- Powertrain Control Module Programming
- Faulty Powertrain Control Module
How do I fix code P0606?
Check the “Possible Causes” listed above. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connectors. Check for damaged components and look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector’s pins.
Tech Notes
- Check the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) fuse, if the fuse is OK, try erasing the code first and if the code comes back you may have to reprogram or replace the PCM.
Cost of diagnosing the P0606 code
The cost of diagnosing the P0606 code is 1.0 hour of labor. The auto repair labor rates vary by location, your vehicle’s make and model, and even your engine type. Most auto repairs shops charge between $75 and $150 per hour.
Possible Symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Engine may not start
P0606 Description
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) continuously monitors its internal memory status, internal circuits, and output signals to the throttle actuator. This self−check insures that the PCM is functioning properly. If any malfunction is detected, the PCM will set the code and illuminate the engine light. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) indicates the PCM has experienced an internal memory fault.
