P0703 MERCURY Description
The Brake Pedal Position (BPP) switch is sometimes referred to as the stop lamp switch. The BPP switch provides a signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) indicating the brakes are applied. The BPP switch is normally open and mounted on the brake pedal support. The Powertrain Control Module monitors the BPP switch. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will set when the Powertrain Control Module did not receive a BPP switch input.
