- IPDM E/R harness is open or shorted
- IPDM E/R circuit poor electrical connection
How do I fix code P1652 INFINITI?
Check the “Possible Causes” listed above. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connectors. Check for damaged components and look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector’s pins.
Tech Notes
- The Starter Motor Relay is part of the Intelligent Power Distribution Module (IPDM) Engine Room (E/R) and is not serviceable.
Cost of diagnosing the P1652 INFINITI code
The cost of diagnosing the P1652 INFINITI code is 1.0 hour of labor. The auto repair labor rates vary by location, your vehicle’s make and model, and even your engine type. Most auto repairs shops charge between $75 and $150 per hour.
Possible Symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
P1652 INFINITI Description
The Engine Control Module (ECM) controls ON/OFF state of the starter relay, according to the engine and vehicle condition. The ECM transmits a control signal to the Intelligent Power Distribution Module (IPDM) Engine Room (E/R) by CAN communication. Under normal conditions, the ECM controls and maintains the starter relay in OFF state during the following condition: The engine is running, the selector lever is D position. (CVT models), and the clutch pedal is fully released. (M/T models). When detecting a decrease in engine speed due to rapid deceleration or heavy load conditions, ECM controls and reactivates the starter relay. The IPDM E/R detects a control state of the starter relay and starter control relay and transmits a feedback signal to ECM via CAN communication. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will set when the ECM detects a malfunction in the starter motor drive circuit of the IPDM E/R.
