Implausible Engine Oil Temperature Signal Recieved
Table of contents
P1D83 Possible Causes
- Faulty Oil Temperature (EOT) Sensor
- Oil Temperature (EOT) Sensor harness is open or shorted
- Oil Temperature (EOT) Sensor circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
How do I fix code P1D83?
Check the “Possible Causes” listed above. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connectors. Check for damaged components and look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector’s pins.
Cost of diagnosing the P1D83 code
The cost of diagnosing the P1D83 code is 1.0 hour of labor. The auto repair labor rates vary by location, your vehicle’s make and model, and even your engine type. Most auto repairs shops charge between $75 and $150 per hour.
Possible Symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
P1D83 Description
After a calibrated amount of cool down time, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) performs a general temperature rationality monitor and compares the AAT, ECT and IAT Sensor values. If the general temperature rationality passes, the PCM then compares the Engine Oil Temperature (EOT) Sensor value to the other temperature sensor values. If the difference is greater than a calibrated threshold, the diagnostic fails.
