Table of contents

P2173 JEEP Possible Causes

  • Large Vacuum Leak
  • Faulty Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor
  • Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor harness is open or shorted
  • Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor circuit poor electrical connection
  • Faulty Throttle Position (TP) Sensor

How do I fix code P2173 JEEP?

Check the “Possible Causes” listed above. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connectors. Check for damaged components and look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector’s pins.

Cost of diagnosing the P2173 JEEP code

The cost of diagnosing the P2173 JEEP code is 1.0 hour of labor. The auto repair labor rates vary by location, your vehicle’s make and model, and even your engine type. Most auto repairs shops charge between $75 and $150 per hour.

When is the code detected

Based on calculated MAP, either both of the TP sensors have failed or the engine has a large vacuum leak.

Possible Symptoms

  • Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)

P2173 JEEP Description

The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will set when the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) detects that a large vacuum leak is present or that the signal voltage for both Throttle Position (TP) Sensors is stuck a 2.5 volts and calculated Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) is less than the Gas Flow Adaptation value. One trip fault will set within 5 seconds.
