Table of contents

P0223 CHEVROLET Possible Causes

  • Faulty Throttle Body Assembly
  • Throttle Body Assembly harness is open or shorted
  • Throttle Body Assembly poor electrical connection
  • Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)

How do I fix code P0223 CHEVROLET?

Check the “Possible Causes” listed above. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connectors. Check for damaged components and look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector’s pins.

Cost of diagnosing the P0223 CHEVROLET code

The cost of diagnosing the P0223 CHEVROLET code is 1.0 hour of labor. The auto repair labor rates vary by location, your vehicle’s make and model, and even your engine type. Most auto repairs shops charge between $75 and $150 per hour.

When is the code detected

An excessively high voltage from the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is sent to Engine Control Module (ECM).

Possible Symptoms

  • Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
  • No throttle response

P0223 CHEVROLET Description

The Throttle Body Assembly contains 2 Throttle Position (TP) sensors. The TP sensors are mounted to the throttle body assembly and are not serviceable. The TP sensors provide a signal voltage that changes relative to the throttle blade angle. The Engine Control Module (ECM) supplies the TP sensors with a common 5 V reference circuit, a common low reference circuit, and 2 independent signal circuits.
The TP sensors have opposite functionality. TP sensor 1 signal voltage decreases and TP sensor 2 signal voltage increases as the accelerator pedal increases to Wide Open Throttle (WOT).
