How do I fix code P2626?

Check the “Possible Causes” listed above. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connectors. Check for damaged components and look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector’s pins.

Cost of diagnosing the P2626 code

The cost of diagnosing the P2626 code is 1.0 hour of labor. The auto repair labor rates vary by location, your vehicle’s make and model, and even your engine type. Most auto repairs shops charge between $75 and $150 per hour.

Possible Symptoms

  • Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)

P2626 Description

This fault code is stored in the engine control module when a fault is detected with the oxygen sensor current flow circuit. A wideband oxygen sensor is used to measure the actual air to fuel ratio, this is necessary for modern lean burn spark ignition engines and compression ignition engines. A wideband sensor incorporates two sensors integrated into one component. The first part of the sensor is a narrowband cell that samples the exhaust gas (in a measurement chamber) and the outside atmospheric air. The control module maintains a voltage of 450 millivolts from the narrowband sensor, this equates to a lambda value of one. This is referred to as the reference voltage. In order to maintain this value of lambda one, the second part of the sensor is used, it is a pump cell. This is a chemical pump, and if the sampled exhaust gas is comparatively rich the pump cell is supplied with a negative current to “pump” oxygen into the measurement chamber. Conversely, if the sampled exhaust gas is lean the pump cell is supplied with a positive current to “pump” oxygen out of the measurement chamber. The polarity and magnitude of the current flow is a direct indication of the air to fuel ratio.
