F-CAN Malfunction Gauge Control Module-Powertrain Control Module

Table of contents

U0155 HONDA Possible Causes

  • Faulty Gauge Control Module
  • Gauge Control Module harness is open or shorted
  • Gauge Control Module circuit poor electrical connection
  • Faulty Powertrain Control Module (PCM)

How do I fix code U0155 HONDA?

Check the “Possible Causes” listed above. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connectors. Check for damaged components and look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector’s pins.

Tech Notes

  • For the 2003–2012 Honda Accord, 2003–2011 Honda Civic, 2010–2012 Honda Crosstour, 2007–2011 CR-V, 2009–2012 Fit, and 2003–2012 Pilot, before you start troubleshooting, try resetting the battery; that often does the trick. Just disconnect the negative cable for 5 seconds, and reconnect it. If the DTC doesn’t reset, you’re done. If it does, then continue with normal troubleshooting.
  • Keep in mind, some systems (like audio and navigation with volatile memory) will lose all stored data when you disconnect the battery. So make sure you’ve got the anti-theft codes and write down the audio presets before doing that.

Cost of diagnosing the U0155 HONDA code

The cost of diagnosing the U0155 HONDA code is 1.0 hour of labor. The auto repair labor rates vary by location, your vehicle’s make and model, and even your engine type. Most auto repairs shops charge between $75 and $150 per hour.

When is the code detected

The U0155 code is set when the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) does not receive any signals via the F-CAN lines for at least 1 second.

Possible Symptoms

  • Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)

U0155 HONDA Description

The Controller Area Network (CAN) transmits/receives pulsing signals to/from the control modules simultaneously by using two signal lines (CANH and CANL). When the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) does not receive the signals from the Gauge Control Module via the F-CAN lines for a set time, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC).
